As you can see, John drives one super sweet ride. A stunning 2004 Carrera GT3.

As a Porsche Owners Club member he gets plenty of track time and admits to driving his ride "pretty hard". Good for you John and thanks for the recommendation - I will be driving your route as soon as I can.

The following is in John's own words:-

The reason I wanted to email you was to suggest a road (or route) for a nominee of best driving roads.

The 33 highway leaving ventura and passing through ojai and up to maricopa. You may then connect to highway 58 that drops you out near Cambria where you may enjoy a nice bed and breakfast or hotel.

The 33 is a phenomenal driving road, well traveled by sport bikes and the odd exotic auto.

Leaving the coast you will find it a bit of a bore until you pass the deer lodge, an excellent stop for people watching and a trip tip sandwich to send you off into the hills.

It is best to keep the speeds down until passing wheeler gorge as there are a lot of looksy lous. Also the road is best travelled in the after noon after the morning bicyclists are finished enjoying the road.

After wheeler... you can really let loose and can count on a singnal from other driving enthusiasts if there is a friendly (umm yeah) CHP officer lurking in the distance.

This road offers spectacular views and even a mountain creek runing year round to stop and put your feet in if you wish. It is remote in the mid - upper sections. Women enjoy the stream stop ;-) !

Once you hit the 166 freeway you may opt to turn left towards the coast dropping you out at the 101 in santa maria. But if you chooose to go the distance, turn right and head towards taft / maricopa on the 33-166.

Find the 58 and head towards the coast dropping you near cambria on the 101.

The 58 is another road that MUST be experienced. It has some long straights with whoops that are so fun you will start laughing! Mind the 90 degree turn signs!!!!! these turns are truly 90 degrees! slow to 25 mph! The road then turs into a high speed sweep heaven eventually getting into tighter and tighter turns as you approach the exit.
