Lakselv To The North Cape (Norway - E69) By Stefan Jonas
Stefan has just kindly submitted a new route that I am sure not many people know about. The E69 in norway, which he found during a road trip, from his home country of Holland, in September 2010. As you can see from the photo below, this looks like something you Europeans may want to consider - fancy a trip to the most Northern part of the continent?

The following is in Stefan's own words (with just small corrections at Stefan's request):-
This is a very nice, smooth road to drive.
At one side of you, you will see the sea, and at the other side rocks, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, etc.
The road contains some fast, high speed straights - one of which is in a tunnel (who doesn't like a high speed tunnel? Ohhh, That sound!). It also has a good mix of corners to navigate.
Some of the turns are wide enough to drive through at high speed, but some are very narrow. If there is other traffic, you may have to stop sometimes to let them pass.
You are in the wild's here so while driving at high speed you always need to pay attention for reindeers and sheep on the road.
Thera are some villages to pass, watch your speed in those area's. Mostly the speedcamera's are very visible, or a sign will tell you that you can expect one.
The first part of the trip is fast and drivable at high speed, then you get the long tunnel to enter the Nortcape Isle, and from the end of the tunnel to the North Cape, the road isn't as fast anymore, but more technical, lots of bends, and lots of reindeer!
At the end of the road you will get the best end of a road you can imagine. The road will climb at a 500m straigt at 20 degrees, ending at the North Cape platform. You are now on the most northern place of Europe.
After enjoying the view over the sea and making a picture of you being there, head back over the same, higly impressive road.
The best car to drive this road would be a car like the Mercedes SLS. Very fast, but also comfortable. A circuit-like car would be to hard in the suspension, you wouldn't enjoy it.
Other things to see at the road: Sea-eagles often fly around in this area. You're passing the two biggest trolls of the world wich are recorded in the guines book of records, and some very nice fisherman-villages.
This road is not always driveable in the winter, so from the early Spring to the late Autumn is the best period. Note that in the Summer there might be more traffic! (especialy at the longest day of the year, when the sun doesn't go down, so it will not get dark. Lots of people will watch it at the Northcape platform).
Best regards,
Stefan Jonas
